Questions about Skilo

37 answers about SEO, GEO, the score methodology, AI monitoring, plans and privacy.

Getting started

What is Skilo Digital?

Skilo Digital is an SEO and GEO agent that checks whether your brand shows up on Google and in AI search answers, and delivers a plan to fix what is holding you back. It reads your website's code, tests real questions on AI tools to see whether you are cited, and turns every problem it finds into a practical instruction — no technical knowledge required.

Do I need to know how to code or understand SEO to use it?

No. Every problem found becomes an instruction in plain language, with step-by-step guidance on where to click in your platform's admin panel (WordPress, Shopify, VTEX, Nuvemshop and others). When a fix involves code, Skilo generates a ready-to-paste snippet — you don't need to write anything.

How long does the first analysis take?

The free analysis takes about 10 to 30 seconds. It reads your website, checks your sitemap and robots.txt, pulls real speed data from Google and asks AI tools whether they cite your brand — all before showing your score.

Does Skilo work for any type of business?

Yes — Skilo works for online stores, service providers, company websites and SaaS. The engine detects what type of site yours is and adjusts what it checks: an institutional page isn't penalized for not having prices or stock, and a service website gets business profile recommendations instead of product catalog ones.

Do I need to install any code or plugin on my website?

No. Skilo reads your website publicly, the same way Google and AI tools do — no tracking script, no plugin and no access to your server. You only connect a credential if you want Skilo to publish content drafts for you (currently on WordPress).

SEO and GEO

What is GEO (Generative Engine Optimization)?

GEO is optimizing your brand to appear in answers generated by AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity. While traditional SEO competes for a spot in Google's list of links, GEO competes to be mentioned inside the answer the AI writes — where usually only two or three brands fit.

What is the practical difference between SEO and GEO?

SEO optimizes for being found in a list of results; GEO optimizes for being cited inside a ready-made answer. In practice, a lot overlaps (a readable site, structured data, clear content), but GEO adds its own requirements: content must be accessible to crawlers that don't run JavaScript, answer questions directly and include concrete data the AI can safely cite.

If I invest in GEO, do I need to give up SEO?

No — GEO and SEO add up, and much of the work serves both. A fast website with clear titles, valid structured data and content that answers questions ranks better on Google and gets cited more by AI. That's why the Skilo score measures both sides instead of picking one.

Why don't AI tools cite my brand?

The three most common reasons are: the website blocks AI bots in robots.txt, the main content only appears after JavaScript runs (and AI crawlers don't run JavaScript), or the site has no answer-style content the AI can extract. Skilo's analysis checks exactly these points and shows which one is weighing on your case.

Which AI bots does Skilo check in my robots.txt?

Skilo checks whether your robots.txt allows the main AI crawlers, including GPTBot (OpenAI), ClaudeBot (Anthropic), PerplexityBot and Google-Extended. Blocking these bots is the fastest way to disappear from AI answers — and it is a common mistake, because the block often came bundled with an old security setting.

The score and the methodology

How is the Skilo score calculated?

The score goes from 0 to 100 and adds up three components with fixed weights: SEO (40%), GEO (30%) and Real AI Presence (30%). SEO and GEO are measured on your website; Presence is measured by actually asking AI tools whether they cite your brand. The full methodology, criterion by criterion, is public on the "How we calculate the score" page.

Which pillars are evaluated?

There are six pillars: Technical Foundation, Structured Data and Trust and Conversion (SEO side); AI Accessibility, Content Citability and Semantic Structure (GEO side). Each pillar groups objective criteria checked on your website, and the Overview shows how many points you have already earned and how many are still open in each one.

What does it mean when a criterion shows up as "we couldn't test this"?

It means checking that criterion failed for a technical reason — usually a timeout while fetching your sitemap or robots.txt — not that the item is wrong on your website. Unmeasured criteria never count against you: they are left out of the blame for the score, and Skilo tries again on the next analysis.

My score changed without me touching the website. Why?

The AI Presence part changes on its own, because AI answers change from one day to the next even when you change nothing. On top of that, Skilo applies a measurement tolerance so it doesn't record variation that is just network noise, and runs a second reading of institutional pages that can confirm signals the first reading missed.

The free check gave a different score from the dashboard. Which one is right?

The dashboard one. The free check measures AI Presence with a single question asked on the spot, which can be lucky or unlucky; the dashboard uses continuous monitoring, with your real questions running across the five AIs. That's why the free score is presented as a preview — it shows the direction, the dashboard gives the reliable number.

Is the score methodology open?

Yes. All criteria, weights and ranges are published on the "How we calculate the score" page, and every criterion in the dashboard shows the real evidence behind that result — the snippet of your code, the URL checked or the AI's answer. Skilo does not use a black-box score.

AI monitoring

Which AI tools does Skilo monitor?

On paid plans, Skilo monitors five: ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and Google AI Mode. Each question is tested on these AIs as soon as you register it and then automatically every month (on the Scale and Enterprise plans, each brand's top questions every 15 days). Want a reading outside that window? You can run it on the spot using credits. On the Free plan, 1 question is tracked every month on Gemini.

How does Skilo measure whether AI cites my brand?

Skilo asks the AI the question without mentioning your brand, then analyzes the answer to see whether you were mentioned, in what position and in what tone. Asking without naming the brand is essential: if the question already contains your name, the answer is biased and the measurement is worthless. That's why monitored questions are the kind a real customer would ask.

How many questions can I monitor?

It depends on the plan: Free tracks 1 question (plus up to 4 extra, for 10 credits each every 30 days), Growth up to 10 per brand, Scale up to 25 and Enterprise up to 40. Every question is tested across the five AIs at sign-up and then automatically every month; on Scale each brand's top 5 run every 15 days, and on Enterprise the top 10. You can run any of them on demand at any time using credits, and edit, swap or deactivate questions whenever you want.

When do I start seeing trends in the charts?

From the second collection of each question — the one at sign-up and the next automatic one (about a month later, or 15 days for the top questions on Scale and Enterprise). With two collections you can already compare mentions, sentiment and position; if you want to measure the effect of a fix sooner, run the question on the spot using credits.

What is the "Sources & Citations" tab?

It is the list of websites the AI tools actually consulted to answer your monitored questions. It shows where the AIs get their knowledge about your market — and, in practice, points to which outlets are worth your brand appearing in to be cited more often.

Can I compare my brand with competitors?

Yes. Skilo automatically extracts the brands cited in each answer, in the order the AI recommended them, and builds the share of voice showing your position and who appears before you. You can also register specific competitors to follow them closely.

Fixes and content

Does Skilo fix my website on its own?

Today Skilo generates ready-made fixes and publishes content as drafts on WordPress, but it doesn't change your website without your approval. For other platforms, it delivers the code or text ready to use and step-by-step guidance on where to apply it in your admin panel — the decision to publish is always yours.

How does the WordPress integration work?

You connect WordPress with an application password — a native WordPress mechanism that can be revoked at any time and doesn't expose your main password. Skilo uses this connection only to send posts as DRAFTS: nothing is published automatically, you review and publish whenever you want. The credential is stored encrypted.

What can the Improvement Agent generate?

The Agent generates optimized descriptions, FAQ blocks, category taxonomy suggestions, an editorial calendar, image alt texts and structured data (schema) ready to paste. On higher plans, it also generates full blog articles and social media posts with images.

Can I hand the diagnosis to a developer or a coding AI?

Yes — Skilo exports a Markdown report designed to be pasted straight into a coding agent like Claude Code or Cursor. It includes each finding with scope, acceptance criteria and the suggested code snippet, so the fix gets applied without rework to interpret it.

Which reports does Skilo export?

Skilo exports a full executive PDF, a PDF focused on AI presence, the score history in CSV, the Markdown report for coding agents and a read-only public link to share with clients or your team. The link has an expiration date and can be revoked.

Plans, trial and billing

What does the free plan include?

The free plan includes the full SEO and GEO analysis of one website, with score, pillars, evidence and the main fix opportunities. What it doesn't include is continuous AI monitoring: testing your questions across the five AIs every day is a paid-plan feature.

How does the free trial work?

The trial lasts 5 days and gives access to the features of the plan you choose. Every question you register is tested right away across the five AIs, so on day one you see where your brand shows up and where it disappears — and you can run it again with credits to compare after a fix.

What are the plans and what changes between them?

There are four: Free (1 website and 1 question tracked on Gemini), Growth (1 website, 10 questions across the 5 AIs), Scale (5 websites, 25 questions per website and full share of voice) and Enterprise (10 websites, 40 questions per website and priority support, custom pricing). For agencies managing several brands there are tiered plans, starting at R$ 790/month (≈ US$ 159) for 10 brands. The detailed, item-by-item comparison is on the plans page. Billing is in Brazilian reais (R$).

How do billing and commitment work?

You choose the period (quarterly, semiannual or annual) and pay month by month, without paying the full amount at once. The commitment applies only to the chosen period; at the end of it the subscription becomes a regular monthly one and you can cancel whenever you want from the dashboard, with no cancellation fee.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes, from the dashboard itself, without talking to anyone and with no fee. If you are within your chosen period (quarterly, semiannual or annual), the commitment lasts until the end of that period; after that, cancellation is immediate at any time.

What are AI credits?

Credits are used when you trigger AI on demand — generating content, running the Copilot, asking for an extra re-analysis on the same day or running a question outside the automatic collection. The sign-up collection and the automatic one (monthly, or every 15 days for the top questions) don't use credits: they are already included in the plan.

Data and privacy

Does Skilo need access to my website or server?

No. Skilo reads only the public content of your website, exactly as Google and AI tools do — no login, no FTP and no server access. The only exception is optional: if you want Skilo to send drafts to your WordPress, you connect a revocable application password.

What do you do with my email?

The email you enter in the free check is used to unlock and send that report. Marketing communications only happen if you tick the corresponding option, and you can opt out at any time — the details are in the Privacy Policy.

Are my data or analyses shared with other people?

No. Your brands, monitored prompts and analyses stay restricted to your account. Reports are only visible to other people if you generate a sharing link yourself, which has an expiration date and can be revoked whenever you want.

How long is the history kept?

The audit history is available for 180 days on paid plans and can be exported to CSV at any time. This lets you follow how your score evolves over time and prove the effect of the fixes you applied.
